A Leicestershire and Rutland Inclusive Schools League takes place at regular intervals throughout the school year at the Goals Centre, Wakerley Road, Leicester, with over 20 teams and 100 players taking part in both the primary and secondary competitions.
Currently, the league is supported by the 15 Special Schools/Colleges around the City and County and with the increase in opportunities for youngsters in mainstream education (with a special need/disability) the number of schools participating will increase as we move into the season 2008/09.
Through the provision of Football Coaching within the school environment by a network of Football Coaches representing Football in the Community, Local Authorities, FA Charter Standard Clubs and the Leicestershire & Rutland Inclusive Football partnership, links have evolved between Local Football Clubs and Partnerships with the schools and young football players. Male and female players are then encouraged to become members of a Local Football Club and participate in Football outside of the school environment.
For opportunities available for schools to participate in the development of Schools Football for youngsters with a special need / disability please contact:
