The Football Foundation Grow the Game Scheme
Grow the Game provides funding for projects that use football to increase participation by both players and volunteers. This is done by supporting the costs associated with providing new activity. Grow the Game provides funding to contribute towards a combination of the following essential costs associated with providing new football activity:
- Facility hire
- Hire of FA qualified coaches and referees
- CRB checks
- Affiliation fees
- League entry
- First aid kits
- Promotion and publicity
- FA coaching courses
The Football Foundation Community Scheme
Designed to increase participation and volunteering in sport and to encourage the adoption of healthy lifestyles by creating opportunities for all. Priority areas for community and education funding are disability projects, ethnic minority communities, young people, social inclusion and education. The maximum level of funding is 90% of project costs up to a total project cost of £250,000 but applicants are encouraged to secure as much partnership funding as possible.
The Football Foundation Facilities Scheme
Funding is available to refurbish or construct changing rooms, grass and artificial pitches and clubhouses for community benefit. This scheme is further divided into two strands, one for grants under 20k and one for grants over 20k.
The Football Foundation Football Stadia Improvement Fund
Provides grant aid to clubs in the Football League, and the National League System, down to step 7 and below who wish to improve their facilities. Funding is available dependent on level/status of applicant club.
Awards for All
Awards for All is a Lottery Grants Scheme aimed at local communities. They award grants of between £300 and £10,000 for people to take part in art, sport, heritage and community activities, and projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community.
Big Lottery Fund
Uses Lottery funding to help make big, positive changes for communities. Ranging from providing smaller grants for local people to funding big, national 'transformational' projects the scheme funds up to 50% of a project’s cost.
Cash 4 Clubs
What is Cash 4 Clubs?
Cash 4 Clubs is a sports grants scheme which gives clubs a chance to win grants ranging from £250 to £1000, whether it be to improve facilities, purchase new equipment, gain coaching qualifications, or generally invest in the sustainability of their club.
Who is behind Cash 4 Clubs?
The Cash 4 Clubs scheme is funded by Betfair and is supported by SportsAid. Betfair and SportsAid have worked in partnership for a number of years and both organisations understand the importance of community sport in promoting an active lifestyle and stimulating local pride. Betfair's vision is to be a champion of regional and community sport, with Cash 4 Clubs fitting in as part of its much broader community investment programme. Betfair is committed to giving money to charities and supporting sports development both in this country and overseas.
How do clubs apply?

How much funding is available?
There are 3 tiers of grants at £250, £500 and £1,000 which are awarded on a discretionary basis.
Who can apply?
Any sports club can apply as long as they are registered with their sport's National Governing Body or local authority. Funding can be requested for anything that will add to the sustainability and effectiveness of the sports club.
How are the grants chosen?
Grants are awarded on a quarterly basis after selection by our committee. The judges include representatives from Betfair, SportsAid, and other independent and sports committee members.
Flag Grants Programme 2010/11
Forward with Leicestershire Aggregates Grants, (FLAG) is operated by Leicestershire County Council using money from the Government’s Aggregate Levy Sustainability Fund. The grants are available to projects in administrative County of Leicestershire (excluding Leicester City) and are intended to help to compensate communities in areas affected by aggregate extraction.Since 2002, FLAG has allocated over two million pounds to more than a hundred projects.
Who can apply?
Community groups, charities, Parish and District Councils, Parish Meetings, religious organisations, schools and private landowners.
What types of project can be funded?
• new play areas and equipment
• creation or enhancement of wildlife habitats
• improvements to public open spaces, village and town centres
• projects promoting a better understanding of aggregate extraction
• refurbishment of community buildings, including energy efficiency projects
• consultancy, surveys, training courses, community events and tasks
• land or building purchase (when linked to an eligible practical project)
What level of grant aid is available?
Funding of up to £30,000 may be available for eligible projects.
