Players with a learning, physical or sensory impairment / disability are invited to attend a development centre to receive training and coaching as part of their football and personal development. Players from our network of Inclusive Clubs or from mainstream teams around the City and County. Training for Adults and Female Players will take place at the Leicester City Indoor Training Dome near the YMCA on Belvoir Drive. Training sessions will take place on a Sunday afternoon. For the U16’s Males age groups, training will take place alongside the Centre of Excellence sessions at the new artificial pitch at the New College, Glenfield Road, Leicester.
Teams representing Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire as well as our own compete in Midlands League fixtures every month, with each County hosting a round robin fixture programme, with teams playing 7 ‘a’ side football. The League has different divisions according to ability, to ensure a level playing field. Premiership, Championship, League and League 1 Divisions for Adults an U16’s Division for male players. The Girls and Ladies squads from around the midlands also attend, the female players receive training and take part in flexible format football matches.
To finish the season the Football Association host National Finals, where teams who have won their respective regional leagues compete to become National Ability Counts Champions.
The Midlands representative teams are co-ordinated and managed by Local County Football Association’s and Football in the Community schemes working together to provide this fantastic opportunity for players to represent their respective County and play in a regional competition. The fair-play, respect, skill and team work displayed by the teams makes for a very enjoyable experience for all involved.
