Leicestershire & Rutland County FA’s objective is to increase the Female Football workforce within the County. The Female Coach Mentoring Programme is aimed at developing and supporting female Level 1, newly qualified Level 2 football coaches and those that are looking to attend one of these courses.
What is Mentoring?
A relationship built through a series of workshops to develop coaches’:
• Technical and professional skills
• Develop further knowledge and understanding
• Improved competence in coaching
• Helpful attitudes and habits (e.g. confidence, organisation)
• Awareness of potential coaching pathways
• Clarity about personal values and goals
East Midlands Female Coach Mentoring Programme
In 2008 the Football Development Officers responsible for Girls & Women’s Football will be co-ordinating “The East Midlands Female Mentoring Programme.” This will be open and available to all Level 1 female football coaches that are based within Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire.
The programme will be delivered in the format of five mentoring days that will be hosted by each one of the East Midlands Counties. The provisional format is as follows:
Nottinghamshire: April 2008 Lincolnshire: April 2009 Derbyshire: July 2008 Northamptonshire: July 2009
Leicestershire: October 2008
Each event will be delivered by F.A. Qualified Coaches and Tutors and will incorporate a blend of practical and theoretical sessions, designed to develop coaches’ knowledge and confidence in the delivery of their sessions and also to prepare them for attendance on their next chosen football coaching course.
Female coaches that apply will be provided with a branded polo shirt and invited to attend all events. Coaches will also be able to apply for a grant from their County F.A. to attend an F.A. L2 Coach Education Course, free of charge. More details about this will be given at the first session.
