This season’s Women’s FA Cup has reached the Fifth Round stage and the competition still sees one County side still left in the draw. Leicester City FCW, currently sitting top of the Midland Combination Women’s Football League, saw off Millwall Lionesses in the Forth Round by 1-0, earning themselves a home tie at Blaby Scout HQ against Premier League title challengers Everton LFC which will be played on January 27th 2008 1pm. Manager of Leicester City FCW Rehanne Skinner commented:
“The win on Sunday was another great result for us as we have proved that we can play consistently against top sides at the next level that we are aiming for next season. It was a good battle with Millwall and the players worked really hard for each other and did themselves proud creating chances to take the game but we had to wait until the 65th minute to get the winner. Obviously being in the last 16 is a tremendous achievement for the club and a home tie versus Everton will be a great test in the next round. We are very aware of their capabilities and they are doing very well this year and are probably expected to be finalists in the FA Cup. However, for us the tie will be one we will approach in the same way as the last two when we have been the underdogs, we will prepare the same and I have no doubt that when it comes to it the players will give it everything and who knows what can happen. For Leicestershire it is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come and watch some of the best players in the Country as Everton boast 6 Senior 1st Team Internationals so we would love it if we could get as much support as possible to help us continue our unbelievable Cup run and help us to cause the biggest upset in the Cup!”
