Leicestershire and Rutland County FA currently run three representative teams. Under 18 boys, Under 16 boys and girls all play in the Midland Counties Youth Championship.
The Under 16s boys squad will be aiming to repeat the success of the previous two seasons by winning the League and Cup double in the Midland Youth Counties Championship. John Hincks who has managed the side over a number of years, has an excellent track record and is full optimism for this season.
The under 18s boys squad are making good progress in the FA County Youth Cup. Having beaten Sheffield and Hallamshire 2-1in the second round, they then travelled to Durham. A tremendous performance resulted in a 4-1 victory over a strong Durham side. Alex Scott the team manager was full of praise for his young side and explained that they shouldn't fear anyone. Having drawn Worcestershire away inthe Quarter Finals, he is confident about their chnaces of progressing further in the competition.
The Girls under 16s squad have started their league campaign off on a very positive start. They beat a very strong Sheffield and Hallamshire side 2-1 at home. Marion Hayton the team manager was pleased with the preformance especially against a side which they had never beaten before in this competition. " Sheffield are always a strong team, so it was pleasing to get such apositive performance and a result to go with it" she said.
