NOTES:
MATT HAMPSON: Just over three years ago Matt Hampson, from Rutland, was an emerging talent in the world of rugby, recognised by the respected as having the capability to go all the way. Matt was progressing through the junior England levels when suddenly, during a training session two years ago the scrum collapsed and he suffered a dislocation in his neck, which had trapped his spinal cord. It has left him paralyzed from the neck down, still unable to breathe without the help of a ventilator but more determined than ever from the neck up. It is Matt’s spirit and bravery that has earned him such recognition.

AIR AMBULANCE: Plans are underway to provide a new air ambulance service in Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland. Fundraising has begun to raise the £1.5 million needed to run the service each year. Speed counts and DLRAA will use the fastest helicopter available for civilian use, the Agusta 109, which can be airborne in just 45 seconds. From the base at East Midlands Airport, it will take just five minutes to reach Leicester Royal Infirmary and 14 minutes to get to Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. DLRAA will also carry a doctor on board every mission. In many situations, this can make the difference between a life saved and a life lost.

LEICESTER LEGENDS XI: A team of Leicester Sporting Legends..Walshy,Taggart,Elliott,Martin Johnson,Austin Healey and Others who get together to play matches for worthy Charities
QUORN ROYALS XI: The club was first formed in September 1982 by a group of Royal Oak regulars under the name Quorn Royal Oak F,C. after playing friendlies for a couple of seasons, and applied to join Charnwood Sunday football league.
They were accepted and placed in division 5, playing home games on the Stafford Orchard and changing at The Royal Oak. The first match was away against Loughborough Falcons in September 1983. Quorn won 1-0 thanks to the heroics of Malc Hopkins and poor finishing from the Falcons. These were the only points gained that season and Quorn were relegated to division six.
This was to be the only time in their history that the club was relegated and from then on, maybe due to a change of better facilities and pitch at Rawlins, steadily rose through the divisions to division one where they stayed until resigning in December 2005 due to poor player commitment.
In 1992 due to a management change at the Royal Oak, the club moved its headquarters to the Apple Tree and changed its name to Quorn Royals F.C.
