The LCFC Centre of Excellence for Girls has had numerous successes throughout its 9 year period and continually strive to be the best. This is summed up in the senior successes having maintained City players throughout the system who have since contributed in gaining the seniors promotion through 3 successive leagues in 3 years. Now promoted to the Northern Premier League, City are on the way up and they are looking for talented youth to develop and link into our senior set up in future years.
The progress seen within the club has been tremendous and a clear indicator is the amount of our local Leicestershire talent now representing their country at various age groups. Throughout this season alone we have had Kirsty Linnett a formidable striker has gained a starting place in all 3 England U15 games versus Wales and Germany twice. Mary Earps a talented young GK has made positive in roads all season and attended the last U15 camp which saw her start in a game against Germany recently. Sophie Le Gros and Laura Niblett our senior GK’s have been involved at U19 and U23 respectively this season and continuing to push for a place in a starting line up. Rachel Williams has been selected to attend U19 games at the start of the season and since January moved up into the U23’s playing in all 3 games scheduled in the last few months. She has now been involved with England at youth levels for 5 years. Remi Allen has been firmly in the U19 squad all year and now been involved at International youth level for 4 years and Captained her country several times. We are hoping both Remi and Rachel are successful in being selected for the U20 World Cup in Chile in November.
These success stories highlight the quality of the club and the Centre of Excellence provides a clear pathway for all talented youngsters. We would welcome any players wishing to trial and ask you to fill out a nomination form opposite asap and return to LCFC at the Walkers Stadium. If you are too old for the Centre of Excellence we also have other opportunities at our U19 Academy based in Loughborough and the Senior Squad next season so please contact Rehanne Skinner on 0116 2915223 with any queries regarding any of the squads.
