The Academy has been running for over 12 months and has now identified 4 players who train on a regular basis. Tausif Kidari and Mateen Rahmen initiated the set up of the Academy which has been holding regular training sessions at the Madani High School in Evington, initially with a grant from the Kidmah Organisation and supported by coaching staff from the Inner City Club Football FC and students from the Madani High School.
The County FA has supported the blind football sessions and is currently working the the Football Association to put the Academy on a firmer footing.
On Thursday 5th August from 11.00 am – 1.00 pm at the Leicestershire and Rutland County FA, Holmes Park, Dog and Gun Lane, Whetstone, a taster session is being held, which is a great opportunity for potential Blind Footballers to become involved in a brilliant sport. The Leicester Blind Football Academy is currently looking to identify and recruit players from the age of 12 years to Adults.
The B1 Blind World Cup is being held at the Royal National College for the Blind in August and the players, coaching staff and the management team are all working very hard to ensure the England team is the best it can be. For more information on the Blind World Cup, check out www.blind2010.com.
Over the next year or so the England and GB Squads will be very busy preparing for the Paralympics World Games, which is being held in London 2012.
