The Leicestershire & Rutland County FA offers a wide range of nationally recognized Coaching and Medical courses, below you will find a brief description of each course on offer.

Level 1 Award in Coaching Football
The knowledge gained from this qualification will enable you to develop a basic understanding of safe, ethical and effective football coaching to young people. (16 years of age or above).
FA Youth Award Module 1 - Developing the Environment
This brand new qualification, which forms the first of three parts of The FA Youth Award Qualification, is a critical tool to support coaches working with young players and is an innovative qualification devised by The Football Association to further support the development of young players in England.
From 1st January 2013 Membership of The FA Licensed Coaches’ Club will become a pre-requisite for all of the FA Youth Award Modules. Every coach who attends a Youth Award Course will be given a free membership of The FA Licensed Coaches’ Club in recognition of their commitment to become a better coach of young players.

FA Youth Award Module 2 - Developing the Practice
Building on the knowledge learnt in Module One, this course provides practical sessions and workshops that help coaches to develop practices appropriate for the age, maturity, ability and experience levels of their players. Coaches will be expected to plan, deliver and evaluate on their own, and other coaches' practices during the course. This second module in The FA Youth Award is most suited to club coaches who are keen to improve their own personal development as a coach of young players of any age.
Level 2 Qualification in Coaching Football
For participants ages 17+ and who have completed the Level 1 award and/or can demonstrate considerable playing and/or coaching experience. This course develops the necessary expertise and understanding in designing practices and games to improve player and team performance. Please not that all days must be fully attended in order to complete the course.
FA Level 1 Goalkeeping Awards
This is a new course for coaches who wish to learn the basic technical aspects of Goalkeeping. It is an ideal course for those coaches who have completed the Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football and who wish to develop their technical expertise in Goalkeeping further.
Coaching Disabled Footballers Course
The Coaching Disabled Footballers Course is designed to give football coaches and teachers ideas and practices for the inclusion of disabled players in football sessions within mainstream or impairment specific sessions.
Coaching FUTSAL: A Beginner's Guide
The aim of this course is to provide candidates with an understanding of the techniques and skills related to the game of FUTSAL. This course will help candidates organise and deliver basic FUTSAL practices. It will also provide candidates with an introduction to the structure of the game, the laws and the role FUTSAL can play in developing underlying skills and techniques.
Safeguarding Children Workshops (Child Protection)
This is a three hour workshop which aims to encourage a safer environment for everyone. You will be encouraged to discuss some of the most important Child Protection issues in Football. The aim is to explore what appropriate and inappropriate behaviour sounds and feels like. Clear guidance is given on best practice in football and on what actions should be taken if there are worries about the welfare of a child or young person.
FA Welfare Officers Workshop
In order to take part in these workshops your club Child Protection Officer must have;
An enhanced CRB disclosure via the FA CRB Unit and have a positive recruitment decision.
Attended an FA Child Protection and Best Practice Workshop within the last three years.
Emergency Aid Workshops
The FA Emergency Aid award is a three hour workshop which includes basic first aid, CPR and is a necessary prerequisite element for all FA/1st4Sport Coaching Awards. The award is valid for three years from date of issue and must be regularly renewed in order to comply with FA CPD Regulations.

FA Learning National Courses
FA Learning National Courses are usually more intensive than local courses.
Held in a central location, candidates reside on site for the duration of the course. There are a range of courses and qualifications catering for different disciplines across the game.
The FA Youth Award - Module Three, Developing the Player
Innovation in Coaching Young Players
The final module in The FA Youth Award, Developing the Player continues the progressive change in coaching philosophy. Complementing the knowledge learnt on the preceeding modules, this course teaches coaches to have a truly player-centred approach to the coaching and development of young players. The course comprises both practical and theory sessions.

Level Three Certificate in Coaching Football (UEFA 'B' Licence)
Understand match analysis and performance evaluation
Coaches will gain a detailed knowledge based on functional practices, small sided (8v8) games and phases of play to enhance game related understanding. This knowledge will aid them to evaluate player and team performance and set goals accordingly. Coaches will also learn how to analyse matches, assess fitness, provide a psychological evaluation of players and build on nutritional awareness.

In order to book onto an FA Learning National Course, all candidates will be required to register their interest first. Please note that there is a strict criterion for these courses and evidence will be requested before candidates will be accepted onto an FA Learning National Course.
