County FA Youth Conference

The Leicestershire & Rutland County FA is hosting a FREE Youth Conference that will be looking at ways to improve young people's experience of football, raise standards, and essentially produce better players using a child centres and developed approach.

At the forefront of the Youth Conference is a study carried out by Nick Levett (FA National Development Manager for Youth and Mini-Soccer) and Les Howie (Head of Grassroots Football), the study has included 16 consultation covering all regions of England, the consultations started in May 2011 and concluded in September 2011.

The reports and findings from this study were presented to the FA National Game Board and on May 28th 2012. The recommendations surrounding a new player pathway that will dictate at what age a player moves from one format of the game for example 9v9 Football to another format such as 11v11 were well received and passed a vote with an 87% majority in favour that will see the findings implemented from the 2013/14 season.

Nick Levett will be explaining in depth what these new changes will be and how they will impact football at all levels from U7 development sides to the professional game and all that falls in-between.

Alongside Nick and the Youth Review Mark Ives (FA Disciplinary Manager) will be attending the hearing to cover the changes in Youth Football that will arise from the switch over from term (day) based suspensions to match based suspensions in line with adult and veterans football in the coming 2012/13 season.

We will also have Julie Harrington (Managing Director of St Georges Park, The FA National Development Centre) giving a talk covering St Georges Park in depth and how it will aid grassroots football across the Country.

Following the presentations by our guest speakers there will be an opportunity to ask questions. Some of the most common questions can be found in the FAQ document attached to the bottom of this page. Should you have any questions prior to the Youth Conference please email before 12pm Wednesday 6th June, your questions will be answered on the evening.
