Thursday 8th February sees the return of Leicestershire & Rutland County FA's (LRCFA) Annual Referees Summit.
The Summit is now in its 6th year and once again being hosted at Leicester Tigers RFC in their Legends Suite. The Summit will this year see presentations from Bobby Madley - FIFA and Select Group Referee, Martin Allen - Ex Professional Footballer & Manager and Premier League Delegate and Daniel Meeson - FA National Referee Development Manger.
The event promises to merge both a national, professional and local grassroots perspectives of refereeing from a variety of angles through interactive presentations and key note presentations.
Bobby Madley will lead an interactive session around game management and empathy which is currently an important factor in enabling referees to successfully control the game and how this can be implemented by referees at grassroots level.
Martin Allen will present on refereeing from a club's perspective. His vast experience within the game allows him to provide valuable insight into how referees are perceived by clubs and how LRCFA referees can implement these ideas into their own games.
Finally, Danny Meeson will provide an update from The FA Referee Department, touching on current initiatives and areas of focus from both a national and local perspective.
Steve Bratt - Referee Development Officer - LRCFA said,
"This is one of the highlights of the year for me. The event always sparks great discussion and action from everyone in the room, referees, mangers, players and coaches. It's always great to see referees at all levels interacting with each other and exchanging ideas and experiences. For this year's event we want to take it a step further and encourage all that attend to use #RefSummit18 so that we can capture the great points made and keep the conversation going long after the event"
