As part of the FA Charter Standard Leagues Programme, 6 of the leagues have been awarded the FA's Charter Standard League Status. This demonstrates that they are committed to implementing the contents of their League Development Plans into Grassroots Football which have been constructed alongside the Leicestershire & Rutland County FA's Football Development Team.
With the current Youth Football Review in progress, there has never been a more exciting time to get into grassroots football. Small sided formats such as 5v5 are at the forefront of delivery within our mini-soccer league, designed to increase number of youches of the ball, develop confidence and skill in 1v1 situations which will assist in the long term player development of young footballers in Leicestershire & Rutland. Central Venue Facilities which are used at present by the Leicestershire & Rutland Girls' Development League enable players and parents to enjoy a fun, high quality, safe environment where they can play, learn and watch grassroots football.
The work of League Committee Members often goes on behind the scenes and is a vital part of delivering Grassroots Football. Leicestershire & Rutland County FA's Football Development Officers provide Youth Leagues with resources and advice which assist in the following areas:
- Increase Participation throughout the Game
- Increase the number of FA Charter Standard Clubs
- Increase the number of FA Charter Standard Leagues
- Increase the number of active Referees
- Raise the Standards of Welfare throughout Football
- Increase awareness of the FA's Respect Initiative
- Promote the FA's Coach Education and Volunteer Programme
- Create better players through the FA Tesco Skills Programme
- Develop on support Football Services
- Support League with Promotion and Marketing of the services they provide
