As part of the Leicestershire & Rutland County FA School of Excellence we require Mentors and Coaches to help referees to develop by providing them with relevant advice during and after School of Excellence fixtures.

As part of mentoring a referee is given feedback where necessary to help them improve their performance, aiding them with report writing, watching them at games, giving them advice on improvements and offer support throughout the season with any problems that may arise.

There are key characteristics to mentoring, friendliness, approachability and patience. Experience as a referee is helpful but not necessary.
