For the start of the 2011/12 season the Leicestershire & Rutland County FA School of Excellence will focus on 2 areas.

The first is general referee development, which will be open to all newly qualified referees and will involve them receiving coaching and mentoring at the LCFC Academies on Saturday and Sunday Mornings.

The second area is related to talent development. Each year the Leicestershire & Rutland County FA will identify 10-20 Young Referees who have shown clear potential and a desire to progress to adult football. Each referee will receive an individual development plan and be assigned a referee coach for the season. The 3 year programme allows referees with potential to develop from Mini Soccer to 9v9 to 11-a-side and then into the adult game, first as an assisstant referee and then by the end of the 3 years, to be refereeing in adult football.
