Cups & Competitions
2021/22 Season
On the 28th June The FA National Game Board sent a letter to County Football Associations asking them to relax the mandatory requirement for clubs to enter their Senior Cup Competitions. The National Game Board felt it would be reasonable to assume the new season could have interruption and should this be the case, National League System Leagues and Clubs will have to overcome many challenges in order to complete a full league fixture programme.
Following this request, the Competitions Committee of the Leicestershire and Rutland County FA have agreed to cancel the Men’s Challenge and Senior Cup for this season. Further to this, the Competitions Committee also agreed to pause all open aged male competitions including Saturday, Sunday, and Veterans Cup Competitions as well as the Midweek Floodlit Competition for the 2021/22 season.
The Competitions Committee would like to apologise for any disappointment and inconvenience caused by this decision. Any fee paid by a club to enter a County Cup for the 2021/22 season that has now been cancelled will receive a full refund.
The Competitions Committee reviewed all 28 County Cup Competitions have agreed to continue to run the following 18 County Cup Competitions for the 2021/22 season which will be administered by County Leagues:
The Competitions Committee plans to run a full County Cup programme for the 2022/23 season.
