Referee Development Officer

Salary Circa £22,000- £26,000 (dependent on experience)

Fixed term contract until 30th June 2021 (post continuation subject to FA funding)


The Leicestershire & Rutland County FA are seeking to recruit a Referee Development Officer with responsibility of developing the referee workforce across Leicestershire and Rutland.

The role encompasses the following areas:

  • Strategic planning and implementation of effective recruitment and retention strategies for referees that deliver County FA Key Performance Indicators.
  • Support with the development of the referee workforce.
  • Provide appropriate guidance to referees to ensure individuals complete the necessary FA Safeguarding Children and DBS requirements.

The successful applicant will need to be passionate about and committed to the development of referees. They will need experience of refereeing and/or referee development along-side excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to positively influence at all levels. Applicants must have a proven track record of working with and developing a volunteer workforce. The individual must be able to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.  

The post is based at the Leicestershire & Rutland County Football Association Headquarters at Holmes Park, Whetstone, Leicester, working 37.5 hours per week. Evening and weekend work will be required.  

As this role involves direct access to young persons under the age of eighteen, within the context of the job or any subsequently related activities or responsibilities, the successful candidate will undergo a thorough screening process, which will include a Criminal Records Check, to ensure their suitability for the role.
