Walking Football Festival Marches to Leicester

Leicestershire & Rutland County FA is encouraging people to sign up for the Walking Football Festival on Sunday 9 July at Goals Soccer Centre, Leicester, in aid of the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.

The Walking Football Festival in Leicestershire and Rutland is for anyone over the age of 18 who wants to get involved in an innovative version of the game – regardless of ability or experience – and will be one of 32 held across the country during July.

Whether you want to register as part of a team, or as an individual, Goals will welcome entries from everyone who wants to take part. Teams of six will be brought together on an informal basis, with a series of games taking place throughout the day.

Registration for the Walking Football Festival will cost a minimum of £5 per person. This money will be donated to The FA’s official charity partner, The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK, which was set up by Stephanie Moore MBE in memory of her husband to fund pioneering, life-saving bowel cancer research.
Since the fund was set up in 1993, mortality rates have fallen by 30% and over £23.5 million has been raised, but there is still so much more to do.

In addition to the Walking Football Festival, a number of other activities such as cross bar challenges, BBQ, raffle and a FIFA tournament and many more to be confirmed take place during the course of the day.

To register your interest, please contact Goals Soccer Centre on 0116 249 0555 or leicester@goalsfootball.co.uk no later than Monday 3 July.
