Sport England Community Emergency Fund

New Community Emergency Fund Available

Sport England have launched a new Community Emergency Fund to help clubs and leagues in this difficult time.  This new fund of £20million is open to the football community – to help during this challenging time.

Priority will be given to grassroots clubs and leagues who are suffering short-term financial hardship or the ceasing of operations due to the impact of coronavirus.  Organisations will need to show they have exhausted other Government funding that may be available to them – details of which are included on the attached slides.

Funding between £300 - £10,000 can be applied for and things which can be covered include:

  • Rent
  • Utility bills
  • Insurances
  • Staff costs inluding casual staff (that cannot be met by other Government schemes)
  • Facility or equipment hire
  • Retrosepctive losses dating from 1 March 2020

Funding will not be provided for:

  • Activities that are already covered through other Government funding schemes
  • Capital costs
  • New activities or events
  • Players wages
  • Costs beyond the end of July 2020

Examples could include a club applying for assistance towards utility costs due to having no activity on site – or a league applying to recover costs for facility hire / equipment or services as a result of cancelling events.  The fund will be on a first come, first served basis so if you think you may be eligible, please complete the application process as soon as you can.  Organisations can apply via  https://www.sportengland.org/how-we-can-help/our-funds/community-emergency-fund
