Highlights from the night
This week, we proudly hosted our first-ever Referee County Cup Finals Appointment Evening at the King Power Stadium. It was an occasion where County FA referees gathered to unveil their eagerly awaited County Cup final assignments.
Amidst the excitement, a total of 90 referees were honoured with the privilege of officiating across our 23 County Cup finals. Each referee received official County FA referee equipment, accompanied by a distinguished Leicestershire and Rutland County FA badge to proudly wear on matchday.
Adding to the occasion, Select Group 2 Referee Josh Smith was invited as a special guest speaker. His invaluable insights into officiating at the pinnacle of the sport provided an enriching experience, allowing fellow referees to gain expert knowledge and clarity on crucial refereeing scenarios.
Referee Development Lead, Jacob Lehane said: "The appointment to a cup final is a testament to the dedication, perseverance, and unwavering commitment demonstrated by our referees in Leicestershire and Rutland over the past year.
“I’d like to congratulate all of our match officials who have been appointed to these special games, and I wish you all the very best in your fixtures.”
