THE LEICESTERSHIRE AND RUTLAND COUNTY FA OBTAINS EQUALITY STANDARD FOR SPORT
The Equality Standard is a framework for assisting sports organisations to widen access and reduce inequalities in sport and physical activity from underrepresented individuals, groups and communities. It is based around two broad themes: developing the organisation and developing the services it provides. In achieving the Equality Standard, the Association has developed a new Equality Commitment Statement and Policy which can be found here
Sam Turner, Inclusion Advisory Group Chair and Board member, said: “As a County FA we are delighted to share the news of our Foundation Level accreditation of the Equality Standard for Sport and I’m extremely proud of the steps we have taken as an Association to reach this milestone. The Leicestershire and Rutland County FA is proud of its diverse community and as the local governing body for grassroots football, we are firmly committed to equality in all areas of our work, helping to ensure that groups and individuals of all backgrounds are given the same progression opportunities within the game.’’
Joe Dunmore, Head of Football Operations commented: “Achieving the Foundation Level of the Equality Standard for Sport is something we are very proud of as an organisation and we would like to thank our Staff, Board, Council, Inclusion Advisory Group and Members for their support. This is still very much the beginning of the journey, and will act as a catalyst for further equality, diversity, and inclusion work to be developed in the seasons ahead.”
The Leicestershire and Rutland CFA will now start working to achieve the Preliminary Level of the Equality Standard for Sport which will support the Association achieve its vision ‘To get as many people playing football in the best possible environment’.
